Faroe Islands Photo Tour
Explore and photograph the Faroe Islands’ rugged cliffs, waterfalls, and remote villages
Faroe Islands Photo Tour
Imagine standing on the edge of a dramatic sea cliff, looking out across the vast North Atlantic as waves crash far below. With your camera in hand, you’re surrounded by some of the most striking landscapes in Northern Europe.
The Faroe Islands are a dream destination for landscape photographers. Towering cliffs, winding fjords, remote villages, and countless waterfalls create endless opportunities for powerful compositions. During this 7-day Faroe Islands photo tour, we will explore and photograph many of the most spectacular locations these rugged islands have to offer.
The Faroe Islands are also known for their fast-changing weather. Conditions can shift quickly, bringing dramatic light, moving clouds, and constantly evolving scenes. For photographers, this means opportunities throughout the entire day.
Early May is a particularly nice time to photograph the islands. The landscapes are dramatic, seabirds are returning to the cliffs, and visitor numbers are still relatively low compared to the summer months. This allows us to explore many of the Faroe Islands’ most iconic locations in quieter conditions while enjoying the dramatic atmosphere that makes this destination so special.
I have been guiding photography tours in the Faroe Islands for more than a decade and have led over 15 workshops here. This experience allows us to adapt quickly to the weather and make the most of the constantly changing conditions.
Small Group Experience
I strongly believe in the value of small, intimate groups. With a maximum of 10 participants, you will receive plenty of individual attention both in the field and during post-processing sessions.
Throughout the week, we will focus on helping you improve your landscape photography, from composition and camera technique to creative decision-making in the field. There will also be opportunities to review and discuss images together during post-processing sessions.
The goal is simple. You should return home not only with images you are proud of, but also with a deeper understanding of landscape photography and unforgettable memories from the Faroe Islands.
Itinerary
Flexibility is essential when visiting the Faroe Islands. The weather changes quickly and local weather systems can create dramatically different conditions within just a few kilometers. Light and atmosphere can shift within minutes, which is exactly what makes the islands such an exciting destination for landscape photography.
Because of this, we work with a flexible itinerary that allows us to adapt to the conditions and make the most of the available light.
During the tour we aim to photograph many of the Faroe Islands’ most iconic locations, including places such as Gjógv, Gásadalur, TrælanÃpa, Saksun, TjørnuvÃk, Funningur, Norðradalur, and Sornfelli, along with several lesser-known locations.
We will also spend a full day exploring Suðuroy, the southernmost island in the Faroes. This island is a true gem for landscape photography, offering dramatic cliffs, quiet villages, and expansive views across the North Atlantic.
This is a dedicated photography tour, and our schedule will revolve around the best light. Most days begin around sunrise and continue through sunset, with additional opportunities during the day when conditions are promising.
The Faroe Islands are filled with incredible locations, and the weather and light will ultimately guide where we go each day.

With a maximum of 10 participants, the group remains small enough for plenty of individual attention in the field.
Strategically located accommodation
We stay in the same centrally located hotel throughout the tour, allowing easy access to many of the Faroe Islands’ most photogenic locations.
Flexible itinerary built around the light
Rather than following a fixed schedule, we adapt each day to the weather and conditions to maximize photographic opportunities.
Explore Suðuroy
One full day is dedicated to the dramatic southern island of Suðuroy, one of the most rewarding yet lesser-visited areas of the Faroe Islands.
