What to Expect from the Dolomites Photo Tour
This summer photo tour is crafted for landscape and nightscape photography enthusiasts who want to explore and capture the dramatic beauty of the Dolomites while refining their skills in the field and beyond.
Over the course of six days, we’ll guide you to some of the most photogenic locations in the region, from towering peaks and alpine meadows bursting with wildflowers, to crystal-clear lakes and secluded valleys. You’ll experience a variety of light conditions, from golden sunrises to starlit skies, giving you the opportunity to expand your portfolio and deepen your understanding of light and composition.
Our small-group format ensures a relaxed and focused environment where you’ll receive individual guidance from two professional photographers. We’ll cover both the creative and technical aspects of landscape and night photography, including hands-on post-processing sessions tailored to the images you capture during the tour.
All you need is a passion for photography and a willingness to immerse yourself in nature. We’ll handle the logistics, so you can focus on the experience, the learning, and the images.
Dolomites Photo Tour Itinerary
Note: The itinerary may shift depending on weather conditions. We remain flexible to ensure the best photographic opportunities.
Day 1 – Tre Cime di Lavaredo & Cadini di Misurina

Arrival at Venice Marco Polo Airport no later than 11:00 AM. After a short introduction, we’ll travel by van to our hotel near Tre Cime di Lavaredo.

Sunset Session: Photograph the famous Tre Cime reflected in a peaceful alpine lake.

Night Session: Capture the Milky Way above the dramatic spires of Cadini di Misurina.
Day 2 – Tre Cime di Lavaredo

Morning: Relax or review images after a late night.

Afternoon Hike: A 2-hour walk to Rifugio Locatelli with photo stops along the way.

Sunset & Night: Shoot the rugged peaks, wildflowers, and caves near the hut. Milky Way session above Tre Cime.

Note: Dinner at the refuge (cash only); no Wi-Fi or mobile signal. Return to the hotel after the night shoot.
Day 3 – Passo Giau & Passo Gardena

Morning: Check out and travel to our next hotel in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Afternoon: First post-processing session.

Evening: Sunset photography at the flower-filled meadows of Passo Giau.

Night Session: Depending on conditions, we’ll photograph the stars from Giau or Gardena Pass.
Day 4 – Lago di Braies

Morning: Drive to the iconic Lago di Braies, known for its turquoise waters and boat reflections.

Afternoon: Second post-processing lesson.

Evening & Night: Sunset and Milky Way session at Lago di Braies.
Day 5 – Pale di San Martino & Passo Rolle

Morning: Travel south through scenic mountain passes, stopping at Lago di Carezza and other gems.

Evening: Sunset and night sessions at Passo Rolle, with views of Cimon della Pala and vibrant wildflowers in the foreground.
Day 6 – Departure

After breakfast, we’ll return to Venice Marco Polo Airport. Please book flights no earlier than 3:00 PM.
Additional Information
Accommodation
We’ll stay in comfortable hotels throughout the tour, each chosen for its proximity to our photo locations. All participants will have a private double room with an ensuite bathroom. A single room upgrade is available for an additional €800.
Group Size & Instruction
This tour is limited to 10 participants, allowing for close, personalized instruction from two professional photographers. You’ll benefit from daily in-field guidance and structured post-processing sessions.
Strategic Locations
We overnight in four different regions of the Dolomites, ensuring we’re always near key sunrise and sunset spots without wasting time on long drives.
Meals
All breakfasts are included. Dinners are enjoyed together at local restaurants (not included in the price), and some lunches may be packed to maximize shooting time.
Hiking & Activity Level
The tour involves moderate activity. Most locations require short walks from the van, but there are three hikes of 45–120 minutes each. The longest is a 4-hour round trip to Rifugio Locatelli (easy trail, steady pace, photo stops along the way).
A reasonable level of fitness is recommended, along with comfortable hiking shoes and a photo backpack.
Editing Sessions
We’ll conduct multiple post-processing lessons during the tour. These sessions are split into small groups to ensure maximum benefit, and all editing classes are recorded and shared with you afterward.
Flexibility
Weather conditions in the mountains can change quickly. We adapt the daily schedule to make the most of each location, whether that means shooting the Milky Way at night or chasing early-morning light.
Connectivity & Payments
Some remote mountain refuges have no internet access and may only accept cash. We recommend carrying some euros, as not all locations accept card payments.
Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend private travel insurance that covers non-refundable costs, cancellations, and any personal risks associated with travel.
